Aunt Irene was my Grandmother’s (Ida Hayes Greene) sister. She loved my Father (John Greene)and always welcomed us into her home. As a child I remember homemade chicken and dumplings; fresh cow milk, buttermilk and homemade pie fresh from the kitchen of my Great Aunt Irene. She always had a smile and some of the best hugs. This from a woman who I now know must have been exhausted; as I know she was a farmer’s wife who kept Uncle Mont well; raised three children and worked a part-time job. She will be missed!
