When I returned with my family from Alaska in ’74,
I had the privilege of meeting all of mom’s siblings,
their spouses, and their children. For four years
we traveled most Saturdays, leaving Newark
and “going down home”. I remember how excited I was
to visit family. Mary Ann “always” made me feel special and important; asking about
school, my drawings, and any girlfriends. She turned me on to CB radios in the house.
I always envied her and that “power mic”.
I remember her, on countless occasions persuading my dad, who was always tight with his cash,
to splurge and buy me a big lunch from DQ down the street,
or the latest hamburger joint in Marysville.
She loved her family very much. I especially remember her cheering (yelling) during
Ricky’s baseball games. She was his biggest fan. Mary Ann was central to some of my
favorite memories during the mid 70’s.
Betty Sue, Tony, Rick, and Judy – I will always remember your mom with great fondness.
Aunt Mary Ann will forever be missed.
