Albert Scott, 82, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield. He was born April 1, 1927 in Rio Grande, Ohio, the son of Herman and Madge (Craddolph) Scott.
Albert was known as “Mr. Fix-it”. He was a craftsman, an artist and a mechanic. He enjoyed photography, farming, gardening and reading books. He also played the harmonica and the guitar. After retiring as a mechanic from International Harvester/Navistar, he worked at Woodlawn Golf Course for 20 years. Albert was a member of Simple Truth Ministries where he played the role of many Bible characters in church pageants, as well as serving as choir member and as a deacon. Albert was a dedicated and committed member of the Champaign County Republican Club, the Champaign County Dulcimer Club, and the Senior Retired Volunteer Program where he was privileged to have his profile spotlighted. He served his country in the army stationed in France and Germany where his duties included clerk typist. Most important was his love for the Christian faith and God’s word in the Bible.
Albert is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Robinson); sons, Raymond Earl (Deborah) Scott, and Brian Scott both of Springfield, OH; daughter, Angela Harness of Racine, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Justin, Raymond Jr., Andrew, David, Matthew, Kadir and Ashley; great granddaughter, Saylor; sister, Correna Sims of Springfield, OH; brother-in-law, John F. (Taka) Robinson of Sunnymead, CA, and Frank Sims of Springfield, OH; sister-in-laws, Betty Scott of London, OH, Charlotte Simpson and Judith Scott both of Urbana, OH; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Manuel and Charles Scott; sisters, Ada, Lilian and Cora.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 in SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Ray Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
