Arthur E. Violet, 82 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Thursday 18, 2012 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.

He was born April 26, 1930 in Catawba, Ohio the son of Artemus and Opal F. (Fox) Violet.

He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. At that time he was a prisoner of war for 33 months. For over 50 years, Arthur was a member the American Legion Post # 238 Mechanicsburg, the DAV and the VFW. Arthur was a truck driver from 1959 to 1980 and he served as the sexton for Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanicsburg where he retired in 1975.

He is survived by numerous cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers and a sister.

Following Arthur’s wishes, his body will be cremated.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, with Chaplain Dave Merritt officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post # 238 Mechanicsburg. The family has entrusted SKILLMAN, MCDONAND & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg.
