Barbara Lynn Packer, 85, of Urbana, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 6, 1931 in Urbana, the daughter of the late Truman and Dorothy (Houser) Mathers.
In the past, Barbara was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed collecting different memorabilia. As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now with God. She is at peace. And for that, we are grateful.
She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Packer and Linda Packer; her sons, John L. (Texanna “Mickey”) Packer and Robert (Chloe) Packer; her daughter-in-law, Sue Packer; her grandchildren, Chad Daulton, Mandy Spriggs, Amber Higdon, Amy Hurt, Jon Packer, Robert “Matt” Packer, Kelli Packer and Michelle Collins; her great grandchildren, Abby, Kaitlyn & Garrett Spriggs, Emily & Sarah Daulton, Heather & Selene Packer, Nicholas Packer, Austin, Justin & Emily Hurt; Mason & Jackson Packer, and Amelia Higdon; her sister, Rosalie Bailey; and her several nieces and nephews.
Barbara is prceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, John C. Packer; and her son, David Packer.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in the chapel in the mausoleum at OakDale Cemetery, Urbana with Pastor Mike Stewart officiating. Services are entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.

Barb Packer, I will remember her as a devoted wife and mother, her beautiful kind soul, and her intelligent & strong business side. Her smile and laugh could light up anyone’s day.
