Barry M. Locke, 60 of Mechanicsburg passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 in his residence.
He was born March 27, 1951 in Springfield, OH, the son of James “Mack”and Naomi (Powell) Locke.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pam (Wilson) Locke, three sons; Sean Locke of Springfield, Matt (Becky) Locke of South Vienna, Dr. Chris Locke of Auburn, Alabama; 8 Grandchildren; Kylie Locke, Joel & Connor Clark, Johnathan Smith, Nikole, Nathan, Justin and Cody Locke, his parents James “Mack” and Naomi Locke of Mechanicsburg; his brother Mike Locke of Mechanicsburg, his sisters; Coleen Locke of Springfield and Cindy Rucker of Mechanicsburg, his father-in-law Carl Wilson of Springfield; a niece Jamie Rucker and Scott Sherrin and a great niece Abigail.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eskel and Bertha Powell, Frank and Florence Locke and his mother-in-law Roberta Wilson.
Barry was a 1969 graduate of Northeastern High School and had been in the Ohio National Guard. He worked and retired from Yellow Freight, but farmed his entire life. For the past several years he worked for the Ohio State University on the Finley Farm. Barry was a member of the Catawba United Methodist Church, enjoyed raising club lambs, anything that was John Deere, spending time with his family and swimming in “Pam’s” new pool. He was known for his great sense of humor and ability to make others laugh. Barry was a hard worker and was respected by the farming community. He enjoyed spending time at the bench of knowledge in Mechanicsburg at the Marathon Station and was a loving person and was loved by everyone whose lives he touched.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 8p.m. on Tuesday August 9, 2011 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD AND VERNON FUNERAL HOME Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday August 10, 2011 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Vernon-Asbury Cemetery, Catawba. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 3797 Summit Glen Dr. Suite G100 Dayton, OH 45449 or the Catawba United Methodist Church, 61 Champaign St. Catawba, OH 43010.
