Betty Jean Maurice, 89 of Urbana, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 08, 2015 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
She was born March 12, 1925 in Warren, Ohio the daughter of Loy and Florence (Couchman) Rostorfer.
Betty was a 1943 graduate of Harrison-Adams High School. She was the salutatorian out of a class of 13. Betty was a charter member and oldest member of the Fellowship Baptist Church North Lewisburg, Ohio. She was employed for several years at Kirby Hatchery in Urbana. Betty enjoyed gardening, reading, playing the piano for school and church, and reading her Bible. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen (Robert) Imel of Logan, her sons, Roger (Tina) Maurice of Mechanicsburg, Steven (Becky) Maurice of Logan, Patrick (Cynthia) Maurice of Springfield, Jeffrey (Linda) Maurice of Ostrander and Bruce (Diane) Maurice of Kokomo, IN; 14 grandchildren and 11 grandchildren; sister, Vera Smith of Renton, WA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, M. Cecil Maurice; father & mother-in-law, Samuel & Laura (Geuy) Maurice; granddaughter, Erica Rae Maurice; brother-in-law, Douglas Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor David Warner officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Kingscreek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W. Harding Rd., Springfield, OH 45504.
