Carl Knox, Jr., 79, of Springfield passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 in his home, surrounded by his caring family.
He was born February 14, 1932 in Pleasant Township, Clark County, the son of Carl R. and Ruth (Ballard) Knox.
He was retired from International Harvester Truck & Engine. He was a member of the Country Church in Catawba since 1955, serving his church in various positions. Carl volunteered for 42 years with the Catawba Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Jayne (Allender) Knox whom he married, June 22, 1951; his daughters, Anna Lee (James) Adkins of Mechanicsburg and Nancy Jayne Lange (special friend Howard White) of Springfield; his grandchildren, Lawrence Timothy (Stephanie) Lange, Rose Erin (Nathan) Sallee, Shawn Douglas (Lisa) Adkins, Rachel (Brian) Day, Karen Adkins, Emily Burnett; his great grandchildren, Joshua & Gregory Lange, Marah, Brandon & Zachary Day, Sidney & Andrew Sallee, Cameron Adkins and Cadence Burnett; brothers, Robert (Georgia) Knox of Washington Court House, and Larry Thomas Knox of Catawba; his sisters, Garnett Knisley and Roberta (Robert) Stonerock of Mechanicsburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Carl James Knox; brothers, Willard & Dale Knox; sisters, Mary Leach & Linda (Paul) Hilderbrand; brother-in-law, Joe Knisley; sister-in-laws, Pearl and Wanda Knox.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in the Country Church Catawba, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the church with Rev. Glenn McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon-Asbury Cemetery, Catawba. Services are entrusted to SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
