Carol J. (Moore) Green 78 of Urbana, passed away, Thursday, July 28, 2011 in the Hearth and Home of Urbana.
She was born February 6, 1933 the son of the late Ollie E. & Lucy (Tingley) Moore.
Carol was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and continued her schooling receiving her bachelor degree in education from the Ohio State University and then, her master degree from the University of Dayton. She taught for 30 years at Reid Middle School in Springfield as a Physical Education Teacher; where she was known for her Christmas Programs at the school. Carol was a past member of the Urbana and
Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church. She was an 4-H advisor for the first all boys cooking club in Champaign County, a master quilter, a national judge of meat for F.F.A. and loved gardening. Carol was an avid Ohio State football and girl’s basketball fan, as well as the past president of the rebounders club for the girl’s basketball team.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall Green of Urbana; her son, Thomas FitzGibbon of Spring Valley, Ohio, her granddaughter, Sally FitzGibbon of Spring Valley, Ohio, her sister, Shirley Goldsmith of Pasadena, CA; her sister-in-law, Doris (Music) Moore of Mechanicsburg; her niece Gretchen, nephew, Christopher and many other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald W. Moore and an infant sister, Nancy.
A gathering of family & friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011p.m. in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
