Carole L. Black, 75 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Friday, September 16, 2011 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 26, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Helen (Turner) Steinberger.
Carole worked for 18 years and retired as a corrections officer at the Ohio Reformatory for women in Marysville. She was always concerned with the welfare of others, before herself. Carole was a dedicated farm wife who liked gardening, canning and anything associated with farming. She also enjoyed boating, flea markets and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she and Bill enjoyed going to Indian Lake.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill Black, her daughter Vicky L. Love of Urbana; her sons, Billy Jr. (Sandy) Black of Urbana, Paul E. Black and Ted (Kelli) Black both of Mechanicsburg; her grandchildren; Kerri L. Ritchie, Eli, Courtney, Denver, Dalton and Austin Black, her great grandchildren Madelyn and Makayla Black and Shelby Ritchie and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Carl Steinberger and many aunts and uncles.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Smyers officiating.
Burial will follow in Kingscreek Cemetery.
