Charles G. “Charlie” Wiant, 86 of Cable, passed away, Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in Sterling House of Urbana.
He was born August 13, 1928 in Marion, Ohio.
Charlie spent more than 40 years as a dairy farmer retiring in 1988; however, he continued farming on the Johnson Wiant family farm. He was a member of the North Lewisburg United Methodist Church. He was president of the Maple Producers for 4 years, served on the Champaign Landmark Board for 20 years and served for 25 years on the Champaign County Health Board; for several of those years he was chairman of the board.
Charlie was also a 65 year member and past master of the Mechanicsburg Lodge #113 F. & A.M. as well as many other masonic organizations.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Wiant of Marysville and Tim (Cindy) Wiant of River Falls, Wisconsin, his daughter, Sandy (Danny) Gaver of Mechanicsburg, his grandchildren, Zach Gaver, Andy (Annamarie) Wiant, Tyler Wiant, Molly (Kelly) Cummins, Jesse (Vanessa) Wiant & Laura Wiant; great-grandchildren, Aubralyn, Emma, Avery, Charlotte, Jase & Wade; his brother, Tom (Ilo) Wiant of Cincinnati;
numerous nieces & nephews including, Sharon Kelly, Gary Burdell, Susan Polmanteer, Dan Burdell, Amy McMichael, Jere Ferguson and Julia Baker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J. Wendell & Ruth S. (Waddell) Wiant, his beloved wife, Carolyn D (Burdell) and daughter-in-law, Becky (Wilkins) Wiant.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Hospice and the Sterling House of Urbana for the excellent care they gave to Charlie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015 in the FRESHWATER, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, North Lewisburg. Masonic services will follow at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 in the North Lewisburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Reiff officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr, Columbus, OH 43231

Charlie was such a nice man and we will miss him. Cliff enjoyed doing business with him and both of us his friendship. Prayers for the family.
