SPRINGFIELD – Chester “Gene” Folck, 84, passed away, Monday.
Gene was born December 17, 1929, in Springfield, Ohio, and worked with the family’s award-winning Jersey dairy herd which, among other champions, included the Grand Champion Jersey Female for two consecutive years at both the U. S. and Canadian national Jersey shows. In the 1970s, Gene was one of the first cattlemen to import Simmental cattle from Switzerland and was the first to complete a successful embryo transfer in the eastern United States. Later, Gene started Folck’s Country Cuts selling meats and cheeses in the Clark and Champaign county areas.
Gene is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jo Ann (Hawk) Folck, and his sons Fred (Suzanne), Kentucky; Chester Joe (Mary), Enon; James, Springfield; Robert (Cindy), Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Kolp, sister, Betty, brothers Blair and Glen, and his parents Chester and Margaret.
A private memorial will be held. In lei of flowers, please make contributions to a charity of your choice or the Community Mercy Hospice, 444 W. Harding Blvd. Springfield, Ohio 45504.

I’m so, so very sorry to hear of the passing of Gene Folck. Growing up with his granddaughter, Ashley, I always felt so comfortable, welcome, and loved in the Folck home and family. All of my love and condolences to Jo Ann, Ashley and Justin, and the rest of the Folck family.
