Chester L. ”Pete” Wright, 78 of Mechanicsburg, went to be with the Lord, March 14, 2013 in his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in South Charleston, West Virginia May 20, 1934 the son of the Late Denver M. & Minotee (Johnson) Wright.
Pete retired on disability from Navistar following almost 20 yrs of service, he was a member of the Mechanicsburg Freewill Baptist Church. ”He’s gone away with a friend”.
He is survived by his wife and caregiver, whom he married, 11-4-96, Mary E. Wright, one son Charles Wright of Mechanicsburg, two daughters Kimberlea ”Kim” (Duane) Haynes of Springfield and Minotee ”Missy” (Tim) Sizemore of Michigan, Three Stepsons, Ron (Cathy) Slone of Grove City, Keith Slone of Mechanicsburg and Joe Slone of Columbus. Brother Denver Ray (Judy) Wright of Clarksville, IN, two sisters-in-law Ida Knight and Catherine Rice of Chesapeake, OH, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father, Walter Leslie Johnson, first wife, Norma Jean Wright whom he married 9-13-63, two sisters Carla Jean Bashlor and Delores Faye Wright and Stepson Darrell ”Rocky” Slone Sr.
A gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 11-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the Mechanicsburg Freewill Baptist Church on the corner of Oakland and Central Streets; where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Brothers; John Daniels, Ben Gibson and Virgil Perkins officiating. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magoffin County Funeral Home in Salyersville, KY; where friends may call 1 hour prior with Rev. Harry Mead officiating. Burial will follow in Allen Cemetery, Grape Creek, Ky. Contributions may be made to the Mechanicsburg Freewill Baptist Church, 45 Oakland St., Mechanicsburg, Ohio 43044 to help with expenses. The family would like to thank Community Mercy Hospice for all the loving care they showed Pete and their family.
