Cleta “Bette” Elizabeth Colbert, 94 of Urbana, peacefully passed into heaven at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011 in Mercy Memorial Hospital, Urbana, Ohio surrounded by her loving family.


She was born in Cable, Ohio on September 20, 1916 to Charles and Marie (McKeever) Huddleston.
Bette was a 1934 graduate of Cable High School. She married William T. Colbert on August 19, 1940 in Covington, KY, he died April 21, 1975. She was legal secretary for many years in the Urbana area. Bette enjoyed all kinds of music, especially, county and listening to Elvis. She was an avid reader and shopping. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.


Bette is survived by her daughter, Lee Elizabeth Colbert, daughter-in-law, Rebecca Colbert, her grandchildren, Heather Boydston, Jenny (Sean) Henderson, Morgan Colbert and Clayton Colbert, her great grandchildren, Elijah Colbert, Samuel and Adeline Henderson; her sisters, Louise (Orville) Jones, Jean (Harold) Haggard and Patricia (Paul) Zacharias; and many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.


Bette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Clark Thomas Colbert; her sisters, Roberta (Edward) Russell and Mary (Millard) Kline and her brother, Dale Huddleston.


A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2010 in the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Horrigan officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local Heart Association, Diabetes Association or to the Cancer Association.
