David Gleason, 89 of Urbana, passed away, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 in Mercy McAuley Center.
He was born May 14, 1925 in Denver, CO. the son of Randall H. & Ruby E. (Schiedel) Gleason. David graduated from Woodstock High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and continued with the Navy reserves for 41 years. He retired from WPAFB as a District Fire Chief and was owner and operator of Gleason plumbing and electric. David also was a Red Cross CPR instructor, Box 13 volunteer, member of the Urbana VFW Post #5451, Pearce-Kerns American Legion #120 and the Urbana Moose #1215.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara J. Gleason , Three sons, Douglas R. (Colleen) Gleason of Zachary, LA, Patrick A. (Sandy) Gleason of Springfield, OH, D. Jeffrey (Tressy) Gleason of St. Gabriel, LA, one daughter Linda C. (Brian) Todd of Urbana, OH, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a niece and 2 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Nancy Byerly.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the Chapel at OakDale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:00 prior to the service. Fire fighters honors will be provided by WPAFB and Urbana Fire Department. Military honors will be provided by the Pearce-Kerns American Legion #120.
