David Ivan Rafferty, 75 of Freeport, FL, passed away, Thursday, January 1, 2015 in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 31, 1939 in Irwin, Ohio and was a 1957 graduate of Northeastern High School and held the honor of 1st in Clark County.
He served his country in the United States Army and then retired from the United States Air Force. He also retired after 12 years working in the computer lab for Okaloosa-Walton University.
David enjoyed traveling with his dog Zoey in the RV. He was a member of the VFW and NRA and loved to go to the firing range. As well as cooking and computer repair. He loved talking to his neighbors and working on his special projects. Most of all he adored traveling to see all of the kids and grandkids. His favorite place to visit was the area around Ft. Huachuca, AZ
He is survived by his daughters, Gail Laurene Rafferty Davidson of Springfield, Tammy Yvonne Rafferty Corbett (Phillip Corbett) of Somerville, TX, Sharon Mae (Gene) Harris of Freeport, FL and Lorrie Ann (David) Booten of Gallipolis; his sons, Steven Leon Rafferty of Mary Esther, FL Douglas Wayne (Edna) Harrison of Springfield, Max Andray Harrison of Springfield and Thomas Dwayne Harrison of Ft. Walton Beach, FL ; Sherry Rafferty (daughter-in-law) of Mary Esther, FL; 33 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; his brother, Stephen N. Rafferty as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard H. (Pappy) and Helen L. (Edwards) Rafferty, his wife, Lora Pearl (Bowman) Rafferty, his sons, David Dwayne Rafferty and Ricky Lee Harris and his sister, Carolyn “Suzie” (Rafferty) Baxter.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the funeral home with Rev. Karen Montgomery officiating the family will receive friends 1 hour prior. Burial will follow in Somerford Cemetery.
