Dick Runyan, 82 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Sunday, July 22, 2012 in Heartland of Springfield. He was born February 16, 1930 in Springfield, Ohio. Dick served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Bulk Transit in Plain City as a Truck Driver. He was a member of the County Church of Catawba. He served in the past as a volunteer fire fighter with Pleasant Township Fire Department in Catawba. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR racing.
His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ann (Jordan) Runyan, his daughter, Debbie Whitley, his grandson, Matthew (Ashley) Whitley all of Mechanicsburg, his sister, Sharon (Charles) Jones of West Liberty and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Beals and Mary (Callicoat) Runyan; his sisters, Avonell, Irene, Rosemary and Frieda and his brothers, Calvin, Ray, Marty and Lee.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 in the Country Church of Catawba. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the church with Rev. Glenn McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in McConkey Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Mechanicsburg American Legion Post # 238.
