Donald K. Zerkle, 99 of Urbana, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 in the Oakwood Village, Springfield, Ohio.

He was born December 22, 1921 in Champaign County, the son of the late Samuel A. and Lela Ellen (Jenkins) Zerkle. Donald was a graduate of Westville High School and Moore's Business College. He married Doris Canter on September 11, 1943, they spent 71 wonderful years together. Doris passed December 12, 2014. Donald was a lifelong farmer in Champaign County. He served as a Mad River Township Clerk for several years and he served on the Pioneer Electric Cooperative Board for 18 years. Donald was an active member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church; where he served as Superintendent of Sunday School and held many other positions in the church.

He is survived by his daughters, Carol A. (Ronald) Wolford, Nancy L. (Ray) Steele; sons, Gary L. Zerkle, Donald K. (Lois) Zerkle Jr.; grandchildren, Christopher (Susan) Zerkle, Curtis Zerkle, Aaron (Michelle) Zerkle, Anthony (Deborah) Zerkle, Avery (Jaclyn) Zerkle, Adam (Jessica) Steele, Nathan (Cindy) Steele, Penny (Matthew) Norris; 20 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris M. (Canter) Zerkle; great grandson, Cody Wyatt Zerkle.

Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending.

Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the Terre Haute United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Lehman officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-12 noon prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery.
