Donald Lionel Marshall, 83 passed from this earth into the loving arms of his LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the early morning of May 14, 2022 at Vancrest of Urbana.

"Daddy," as he was known by most, especially for those for whom he was their elder, was conceived in love to the newlywed couple of Robert Nathaniel and Swanie Lou (Dunn) Marshall, and was born into this world, early in the morning of Monday, August 8, 1938, 222 Crane St., in Dayton, Ohio.

Daddy resided in early childhood around Dayton until 1950 when his family moved to a farm in northern Greene County, at the present 5015 Tanyard Road. His first job as an early teenager was at the Riverdale Dairy in Springfield, and at the age of 18 he was hired at International Harvester (Navistar) in 1957 and retired from there in 1989.

Daddy joined the Ohio National Guard, Company B, 137th Signal Battalion at Springfield, Ohio. His service was from 1956-1963, he ended his service with rank of SPC 4.

Daddy on September 18, 1965, married the Love of his life, Thelma Alice Higgins, the daughter of Fred and Nancie Virginia (Clark) Higgins. To this union was born to them their one and only son. Together they enjoyed a Happy and Joyous life together for over 48 years, until the early morning of March 22, 2013, when his helpmate passed on before him, leaving him and family to mourn her loss.

Daddy is preceded in death by his Loving wife, his parents, his sister, Gay E. Marshall, brothers; James F. Marshall and Jack E. Marshall, sister-in-law, Nancy E. Marshall, nephew, James F. Marshall, Jr. and great-grandson Benjamin (Benji) Purk.

Daddy is survived by his son Fred Higgins (Tonya S.) Marshall of Urbana, grandchildren; Shelby L. (Andrew J.) Purk of DeGraff, and Brooke P. (Bryant) Kemmere of Urbana, sister-in-law, Dorothy K. Marshall and niece, Nikki (James) Smith of Magadore, grandniece Britney Johnson of Urbana and 4 great grandchildren.

At a very young age his mother and aunts had observed that "Donnie was as good as gold!" All that knew him, as a friend or even acquaintance can attest to their appraisal! As for me I can attest that my Daddy was the finest most humble and Loving man I have ever known. He will be greatly missed by me his devoted and loving son, as well as the rest of his family. I can truthfully testify that my Daddy's Love was the best witness in earthly form of our Heavenly Father's Love for us.

The most important record that can be made here today, that I am So very happy to tell you. Daddy as a young man of 22, repented of his sins and put his full faith and trust in the blessed work of our Saviour, Jesus Christ! My prayer is that all of his family and friends that mourn his loss will follow in this same path and join him in our Lord's Kingdom.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12-3 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2022, in in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2022 in the funeral home with Pastor Calvin Rowland officiating.

Interment will follow the service in Kingscreek Cemetery.
