Donald Oris Thurman, 78 of Urbana, Ohio went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born May 12, 1939 in Washington Court House, Ohio the son of Rodney D. & Junita R. (Tincher) Thurman. He served his country in the United States Navy. Don retired after 30 years from Navistar. He faithfully attended the Bellefontaine Church of Christ in Christian Union. He enjoyed going to auction sales, loved going camping, tinkering in the barn, and especially spending time with family.
Don is survived by his wife of 56 yrs, Leaonteen “Tootie” Marie (Wagner) Thurman; sons, Jeffery (Susie), Stephen (Shelley), Donald (Peggy), Bryan (Joy) and Bruce (Laurie) Thurman; grandchildren, Levi (Ally), Melaney, Melinda Thurman, Alicia Lynch, Kelly (Tim) Ramsey, Chelsey (Adam) Spragen, Ryan Thurman, Grant (Jordan) Thurman, Bethaney (Caleb) Belville, Heather (fiance Brandon), Derek Thurman and Kody Thurman, great grandchildren, Brandt, Kate, Bailey, Dylan, Eli, Karter, Bella and Conner; brothers, Charles (Virginia) and Clarence Thurman, sisters, Ruthann Puckett and Jane (Tex) Moore; as well as several nieces & nephews and a special friend, Dick Kizer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rodney Thurman Jr and Robert Thurman.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 in the funeral home with pastors, Rev. David Glauner and Rev. Brad Angus officiating.
Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
