Donn R. Moody, 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018. He is absent from the body and present with the Lord. He is finally whole in mind and body again.
Born April 23, 1935, in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Mary Montgomery Moody. He was married for 60 years to his loving and devoted wife, Linda Davis Moody, who survives him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Moody, and a granddaughter, Melanie Smith. Survivors include his four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth (Michael) Smith of Rossville, Georgia, Kay (Matt) Hamilton of Mechanicsburg, Jolene (Andrew) Carter of Marion, Ohio, and Lynette (Danny) Moore of Springfield, Ohio, and his eleven grandchildren, Anthony (Melissa) Hamilton, Stephen Hamilton, Rachel (Andrew) Grob, Zachary Hamilton, Moody (Edith) Smith, Morgan (Jared) Buckels, Monty Smith, Caleb Moore, Luke Moore, Nathan Moore, and Joel Carter.
Donn was a lifelong resident of Mechanicsburg. He was a hard working man who farmed for many years as well as worked for 30 years at International Harvester. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Urbana for more than 50 years. He was an animal lover. He and Linda owned many dogs, sheep, cattle and horses over the years. He owned, trained, and rode his horses for most of his life and is well known in that community. He volunteered to coach different sports (softball, track, volleyball) when his daughters needed coaches for their school athletic teams. He especially loved studying and coaching high school volleyball and continued that for many years at several different schools.
Donn accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior following the death of his beloved son. He loved the Lord and shared his faith in Jesus Christ with many people during his life. He possessed great compassion for people and a deep love for his family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 5-7p.m.Tuesday, November 27, 2018 Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in the Grace Baptist Church, Urbana, OH with the Pastor Aaron Samples officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
