Dorothy “Dottie” Bowshier, 57, of Urbana, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, September 6, 2013 in Bellevue, Ky.

She was born January 5, 1956 in Montgomery, Alabama.

Dottie was passionate about children, especially her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was an active Girl Scout Leader and foster parent. Dottie loved spending time with her daughter, granddaughters, and her mother, who was her best friend. They will sadly miss her.

Her survivors include, her husband of 27 years, James Arthur “Art” Bowshier; her mother, Bessie (Monroe) Cohn; her daughter, Sarah Bowshier of Urbana; her granddaughters, Olivia “Livi” and Hannah “Nina” all of Urbana; her sister, Mary (Tim) Tyler of Cable; sister-in-laws, Connie (Norman) Bowers, Patty Stewart, Vicky (Butch) Rider, Jackie (Rhett) Knott, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her biological father, George Skinner and her adopted father, William (Hubert) Cohn, and an infant son, Charlie Ray.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD, &VERNON FUNERAL HOME Mechanicsburg with Pastor Brian Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 – 1 prior. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.

Family and friends will gather immediately after burial at the Perish Hall on Walnut Street in Mechanicsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
