Earl Franklin Love, age 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, builder, and friend of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, departed this life at 12:24 AM on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 in Community Hospital, Springfield, Ohio to meet The Master Carpenter, his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Earl was born on May 21, 1928 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio to parents Rollie and Monnie (Gibson) Love. He left home at the tender age of 14 and immediately began working and earning his own way. He married Verla (Conley) Love on April 30, 1946 and together they raised six children and welcomed ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A carpenter by trade, Earl began a successful business as Earl Love Builders in 1957 and built over 50 new homes and completed innumerable remodeling and repair projects during his lifelong career. He was formerly a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union for many years and most recently a member of the Kennard Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ethel (Philip) Miller and Elizabeth Ann Love, brothers Ray Irwin Love, William Love, Robert Love, and James Love, and one grandchild, Sarah Michelle Davis. He is survived by his wife, Verla “Dickie” Love, daughters Linda (James) Baldwin, Sarah (Norman) Violet, and Connie (Bill) Byers, sons Michael (Debbie) Love, Kenneth (Ann) Love, and Joseph (Kim) Love, grandsons Kevin (Sabine) Violet, William “Jake” Baldwin, and Ryan Love, granddaughters Kendra Violet, Heidi (Tony) Jackson, Michelle Love, Heather (Adam) Sorensen, Karen (Aaron) Stillings, and Meredith Love, step-granddaughter Konnor Byers, great-granddaughter Kenzie Jane Stillings, sisters Mary Keefe and Joan Ray, brothers John Love and Roger Love, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday August 8, 2008 at Skillman, McDonald and Vernon Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2008 with Pastors Steve Anstine, Dene Anstine, and Richard Cartwright officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
