Edna Jayne (Allender) Knox, 79, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 in her residence.
She was born June 28, 1932 in South Vienna, the daughter of Millard and Gwyneth (Ritchie) Allender.
Jayne was a 1951 graduate of Catawba High School and on June 22, 1951 she married Carl Knox, Jr. She was a Mary Kay consultant and worked at Ohio Thermometer. In 1952 Jayne became a member of the Country Church in Catawba and through the years filled various positions. Jayne was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Catawba Fire Department and was a 4-H advisor for 25 years. She enjoyed sewing, canning and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Anna (James) Adkins of Mechanicsburg and Nancy Lange (Howard White) of Springfield; grandchildren, Larry (Stephanie) Lange, Erin (Nathan) Sallee, Shawn (Lisa) Adkins, Rachel (Brian) Day, Karen Adkins, Emily Burnett; great grandchildren, Josh & Gregory Lange, Marah, Brandon & Zachery Day, Sidney & Andrew Sallee, Cameron Adkins and Cadence Burnett; sister, Jacquelyn Eaton of Hinesville, GA; sister-in-law, Ellen Allender of Springfield.
Jayne is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl Knox, Jr.; her son, Carl James Knox; brother, James Allender.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg with Leonard Kadel officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3-7 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Vernon Asbury Cemetery.
