Estella C. “Teddy” (Duffey) Smith, 70 of Urbana, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011 in Mercy McAuley Center after losing her battle to cancer.
She was born December 31, 1940 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Sylvester and Estella (Lowe) Duffey.
In the past, Teddy attended Living Faith Baptist Church. She retired from Siemen’s as a Press Operator. Teddy enjoyed spending time with her dog, Lucky.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas “Tommy” Smith, Jr. of Urbana, Steven (Valerie) Smith of Mechanicsburg; her grandchildren, Matthew Smith of Mechanicsburg, Monica (Dan) Morris of Dayton; a great grandson, Trent; her brothers and sister, Sylvester “Bud” Jr. (Norma) Duffey of Urbana, Clarence “Butch” (Nancy) Duffey of Great Cacapon, West Virginia, Delores (Donny) Brackett of Deland, Florida, Wilbur (Linda) Duffey of Deland, Florida, Edward (Myrna) Duffey of Suffolk, Virginia; brother-in-law, Harold Smith of Springfield; several nieces & nephews and the father of their children Tom (Wilma) Smith of Urbana; as well as a host of very special friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Alice (Joe) Kohl, Etta Mae Smith, Regina Davis and Jack Duffey; and sister-in-law, Mary Duffey.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Nancy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg. Teddy loved flowers; however, after loosing her hair from receiving chemotherapy, she greatly appreciated the wig that was donated from the Springfield Regional Cancer Center. For this reason, in Teddy’s memory please make memorial contributions to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, 148 W. North St., Springfield, OH 45504. The family would like to thank the Springfield Regional Cancer Center and the Mercy McAuley Center, especially the southwest staff for all of their love and care.
