Ethel Marie Powell, 70, of Urbana, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at Springfield Regional Medical Center, Springfield, Ohio.
Ethel was born April, 14, 1945 in Urbana, the daughter of Ernest Watkins and Maude Mae (Johnson) Watkins. She graduated from Graham High School in 1963 and became a homemaker being happily married to James M. Powell for 52 years. She enjoyed working with crafts, loved her dog Pugsley, but most of all, loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband James, her daughters; Carolyn Sue (Bruce) Godwin, North Hampton, Ohio, Kimberly Jo (Robert) Gamblin, Marthasville, Missouri, and Lori Ann (Jay) Cox, Redding, Iowa, a son, Jeffrey Allen (Michelle) Powell, Clearfield, Iowa, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother; Ernie Watkins, West Liberty, Ohio, sisters; Pearl Thackery, of Maine, Martha Reed, of Kentucky, and Mary Ann Couch of Columbus Grove, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister; Ernestine Simpson, brothers; Jonathan, Frankie and David Watkins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Robert Instine officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to funeral. Burial will follow in Nettlecreek Cemetery, Urbana.
