Eva M. Shank, 86, of Urbana, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1927 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Willis O. and Ida P. (Shy) Rutan.
Eva was a member of the Urbana United Methodist Church and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was very active with the Champaign County Senior Center. Eva enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed making her mothers recipe for homemade noodles, which her family will truly miss. Her true love was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Shank of London, Kenneth Shank of Urbana; grandchildren, Jessie, Zachary, Kasey, Kristen, Nicholas, and Nathan Shank; brothers, Glen Rutan of Urbana, Ray Rutan and friend Mary of Port Clinton; as well as her several nieces and nephews.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, J. Richard “Dick” Shank; sister, Eleanor Herron; brothers, Philip (Ann) Rutan; daughter-in-law, Julie Shank; sisters-in-law, Katherine Rutan and Eleanor (George) Brown; brothers-in-law, Dick Hammond, Bud Herron and John (Juanita) Shank; nephews, Dick Hammond and Joe Shank.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Spring Grove Cemetery, St. Paris.

Dear Shank Family,
We’re so sorry from your loss. Aunt Eva May was such great person who had aways made us smile. She was so kind hearted and loving. She will always have a place in are hearts and memories.
We enjoyed visiting with her and watching football games. She made us feel at home. Claire loved how Aunt Eva May made her feel so welcome and part of the family. She enjoyed making her chicken and noodles family recipe together.
We are truly blessed to have had her in our lives.
