Evelyn J. Jones, 86, of Urbana, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 06, 2014 in Sterling House of Urbana.
She was born March 20, 1928 in Mechanicsburg, OH the daughter of Cloice and Dorothy (Peppers) Gossett.
Evelyn was the owner of Evelyns BBQ Pit for nearly 10 years, where she was known for her bologna sandwiches. She retired from Drackett after 22 years of service. Her favorite passion was sitting on her front porch on Market Street.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Honore of Urbana, Cheryl (Thurline) Ceasar of Columbus and Tamara Jones of Germantown, MD; grandchildren, Lanelle Honor, Curtis (Jessica) Honore and Jamie Ceasar; great grandchildren, Vanessa, Curtis Jr., Alyssa, Nicole and Caleb Honore; great-great grandchildren, Onyx, Amethyst, and Jett Yorker and Christine Honor; special brother, Kenneth Gossett of Springfield; special friends, the Locke family, the Vactor family, Ruth Dickerson and Martha Rogan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; life partner, James Wyatt; son-in-law, Lester Honor; sisters, Almeta Smith, Bertha Taylor and Margaret Gossett; brothers, Owen and Glenn Gossett.
The family wishes to thank Sterling House of Urbana and Hospice of the Miami Valley for their loving care and support.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Entombment services will be held at the convenience of the family at Rosehill Burial Park, Springfield.

Carolyn& Cheryl, I was deeply saddened to hear of your mother’s death. She made such a difference in so many people’s life. We will always have rich memories of her. On behalf of Anna, Janice, Cynthia and Everett, and myself we all send our love and prayers to you and the rest of the family during your time of bereavement.
