Forrest L. Ervin, 91, of St. Paris passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 in Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana.
He was born March 12, 1925 in Logan County, Ohio, the son of Lewis and Sarah (Sorrell) Ervin.
Forrest was an avid coon hunter back in the day. He was known as a ‘grand tinkerer’ and was always inventing his own gadgets.
He is survived by his son, Terry J. Ervin of Springfield; and his daughter, Patricia (Bud) Van Dyne of Urbana; 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Fleming of Springfield and Mildred McCall of Urbana; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Ervin; son, Robert L. Ervin; and daughter, Jacqueline A. Ervin; as well as 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Josh Kespehler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Sorry to hear about Forrest, I remember him taking me and my brother coon hunting many moons ago. Just want the family to know that they are in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry I am too far away to be there but you are in my thoughts always.
