Franklin D. Jenkins, 72, of North Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 in his home with his wife by his side.
He was born October 10, 1938 in Cable, Ohio, the son of John and Lucy (Nickels) Jenkins. Frankie worked for many years at the Urbana Daily Citizen and he had a scrap metal business. He enjoyed going to flee markets and watching cowboy westerns. Frankie was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union, now, New Life Ministries in Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy L. (Cornelison) Jenkins of North Lewisburg, his daughters, Lila (Mark) Miller of North Lewisburg and Katie Maddy aka, Helen Jenkins of Batavia, his son, Roger Gayhart aka Roy Jenkins of Troy, his grandchildren, Megan & Dominick Miller and Dillion Maddy; his sisters, Dorothy (Otis) Smith of Urbana, Blanche May Outram of Urbana, Helen (John) Marshel of Broadway, OH and Margaret Murphy of Mechanicsburg, his brother, Harold (Kitty) Jenkins of Urbana; his brothers and sisters-in-laws, Rubi (Larry) Carter of Folkston, GA, Ernie (Sandy) Blevins of Springfield, Ted (Georgeann) Cornelison of Brookville, Wendell (Karen) Cornelison of Mechanicsburg, Jack (Dee McMullen) Cornelison of Urbana, Wanda (Mike) Taylor of Urbana, Bonnie (Ralph “Rat” Temple) Durst of Marysville and Philip Cornelison of North Lewisburg, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends .
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anda Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 28, 2011 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg with Pastor Sarah Massie officiating; the family will receive friends from 10-12 prior. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
