Fredrick Lee “Fred” Miller, 82 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Vancrest of Urbana.
He was born April 19, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio the son of Harry and Susie (Spahr) Miller. Fred served his country in the United States AirForce. He was employed with Robbins & Myers and during his later years with Lawnview Industries as a truck driver which he enjoyed very much.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 238, Mechanicsburg, Ohio and an avid bowler. Fred was a hard worker, who many times would work multiple jobs to support his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his children, Tammy (Rich) Moore of Urbana, Donna (Charles) Venrick of Mechanicsburg, Fred (Jane) Miller of Mechanicsburg and Larry Farmer of Urbana; his step children, Debbie (Jerry) Carroll of Mechanicsburg, John “Jack” Farmer, Robert “Bobbie” Farmer, Carl “Eddie” Farmer and Charles “Bill” Farmer all of Springfield; his sister, Donna Humphrey of Xenia; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, including, Christopher, Rachell, Cassie, Christie, Jim, Erica and Amanda; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna June (Huff) Miller, his sister, Harriet Tut and his brothers, Ivan, Glen and Chuck Miller.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 238. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paul Loffing Rainbow Unit at Vancrest, 2380 US Hwy 68, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
