Dearest Sherry, George was a prince and Chuck and I admired and respected his personal and professional life. Urbana University was fortunate to have teachers of his quality and his students would agree. Love to you, Rachel and Olivia.

It with much sadness to hear of the passing of George Carroll. As a freshman at Urbana College some 57 years ago, George Carrol was one of those people who came into my life as exactly the right time. He showed confidence in me when very few others did. He was a tremendous motivator and mentor as well as an excellent educator. I can honestly say I doubt I would have accomplished as much as I have in my life nor would I be as happy as I am had it not been for the encouragement, guidance and influence of George Carroll.

I had the privilege of working with Olivia Carroll. The very funny, sweet and warm stories about her Dad were THE BEST. His love for his family was wonderful to hear. I aspire to be remembered in the same way by my family.

Sharon, Adrianne just sent me the notice about George. I am sorry for your loss. I sat here thinking about all of the times we spent together when you and George were Adrianne's first babysitter, carpooling to Triad, and remembering the days at Urbana with Larry Bagford, Tony Jones, and Larry Haverkos just to name a few. It brought back memories of drinking tea at your house while the girls played Barbies. You and the girls were so blessed to have George for so many years. I know he dedicated his heart and soul to Urbana College. He will be missed by many Hugs to you and the girls.

Our sincerest condolences. George first touched our lives as Kathy's instructor in American History during her freshman year at Urbana College. It was after her graduation and my return to Urbana University that we became George's colleague. For many years after, we appreciated his dedication to all things Urbana University. His wit, wisdom and years of service are a true legacy for all whose lives he touched. May you find solace in this time of loss knowing that he was treasured by many.

It is with sadness I learn of the passing of George Caroll. I was fortunate to be his student at Urbana College. I was also fortunate to be his classmate at Ohio State. He was an amazing human being, a Master Teacher, and an outstanding mentor. He always motivated me to give my best. The lessons he taught me will be with me always. Please receive my sympathies.

Sharon, you and your daughters were privileged to have George in your life as his marriage to you came at a time when he knew who he was and what it would take to make his life more complete, more meaningful, more joyful. My time at Urbana with him, B. Lee and others was extremely important to my understanding of what a college should be and the myriad voices that were essential to success. His life was so well lived and may he rest in peace as you and your daughters grapple with his loss. My condolences.
