George Verner Judy, Jr., 85, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 3, 1928 in Champaign County, OH, the son of George and Esta (Northup) Judy, Sr.
George was a 1946 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He served his country during WWII in the United States Army. George was an avid amateur radio operator (KD8HA). He enjoyed watching following the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. For many years, George was a 4-H leader, a rabbit raiser and a nationally well known rabbit judge. George retired from Navistar (International Harvester).
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Ann (Downs); son, David (Lori) Judy of St. Paris; daughters, Donna (Tim) Kothman of Springfield, Debbi (Jim) Young of Mechanicsburg and Jill (Daniel) Rincon of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ruth White of Dayton; numerous nieces and nephew.
George is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ida May Salyers and Donna Joan Hoffer.
Mr. Judy has donated his body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine, Division of Anatomy. Memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to Mechanicsburg Fire & EMS Association, who he rated the best, 18 N. Main St., Mechanicsburg, OH 43044.
