George R. “Jack” Taylor, 97 of Springfield passed away Friday, February 22, 2008 in the Villa of Springfield.
He was born August 29, 1910 in Jackson County, Ohio, the son of George B. and Alice Elizabeth (Jackson) Taylor.
Jack graduated from Mechanicsburg High School. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army.
He married the late Sarah A. Newman on June 28, 1948 in Indiana. He was a farmer and in later years, he worked as an Officer with the London Correctional Institute. Jack was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church of Mechanicsburg.
He is survived by a nephew, A. George Wingo of Huber Heights as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends of several generations.
His family wishes to extend their appreciation for the care and friendship to Jack’s Caregiver, Carrie Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, his sisters, Emma Wingo, Lucile Duncan and Virginia Gifford.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 in the Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral services.
Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
