George William Jumper, Jr., 74, of Port Clinton and formerly of Urbana, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in his home.

He was born December 26, 1943 in Urbana, the son of George William and Isadora Eleanora (Geuy) Jumper, Sr. George attended Urbana High School and received his associate degree in Law Enforcement from Clark Technical College. He served for 25 years at the Urbana Police Department. After retirement, George served as the municipal court bailiff. His passion was spending time on the water, both on Lake Erie and Florida. George was a well-known captain and owner of the Rising Sun Fishing Charter on Lake Erie. He also enjoyed woodworking and watching football in his spare time.

George is survived by his daughter, Dedra (Stan) Blalock of Flowery Branch, GA; his grandchildren, Brett and Kasey (Kyle); his brother, Bob (Linda) Jumper; his sister, Pam Smith; and his 5 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Elizabeth Jane (Legge) Jumper.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Urbana Police Trust Fund, 205 S. Main St., Urbana, Ohio 43078.
