Glenna Mae (Downing) Swiger, 40, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011 in The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.


She was born August 1, 1970 in Kenton, Ohio the daughter of the late Robert and Virginia “Ginger” (Snyder) Downing.


Glenna had a long history of illnesses. She had several friends and enjoyed the company of them all. Glenna married Glen, November 19, 1994 and had enjoyed every minute of it. Glen has stood by Glenna through thick and thin of it all and she stood by him. She does not regret any of it. Glenna had several hobbies that she enjoyed doing and she had one special hobby that she really enjoyed and that was crafts. It helped her relax and had a great enjoyment of doing it. She enjoyed traveling, racing and fishing. Glenna loved the Spring and Fall time, she loved to smell the spring flowers in the crisp morning air. She was very close to her family and friends and she treasured the time she spent with all of them. Glenna liked and enjoyed helping anyone she could and she will be sadly missed by them all.


She is survived by her husband Glen E. Swiger III; sisters, Pamela Lowe and Brenda Kidder both of Springfield; a brother, John Lowe of Sidney; her nephew & nieces, Robert “Bobby” (Tasha) Lowe of South Charleston, Heather and Amber Lowe both of Springfield, Ashley Swiger of London; great nephew Ryan Swiger and great niece Jynger Beverly both of Springfield; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.


Glenna is preceded in death by her parents.


This obituary was written and expressed by Glenna and following her wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana with Pastor Chris Livingston officiating. A visitation of family and friends will be held from 5 – 6 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com.
