Gwendolyn Ann "Peak" Fitzmaurice Epping, 88 of North Lewisburg, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 5, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of William B. and Dorothy R. (Caswell) Fitzmaurice. In 1853, her grandparents came to the United States from Ireland on the boat the Hemisphere, Gwen was very proud of her Irish heritage. She liked collecting stamps, mushroom hunting and playing canasta. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and gardening, especially her pumpkins.
Gwen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Lewisburg, the Marysville Moose and worked in the activities department at Mercy McAuley Center where she loved dressing up as a leprechaun for the Irish parties. Most of all she loved visiting with family and friends. She was the backbone of her family and was loved by ALL and never knew a stranger. As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now with God, she is at peace, and for that, we are grateful.
Gwen is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Bob) Epping Burnett, Donna (Bill) Epping Boitnott and Karen (Howard) Epping Radford; son, Bill (Jennie) Epping; daughter-in-law, Connie Melms, 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Schumacher; numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Vera McKee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Epping; her son Patrick J. Epping; brother, Maurice (Bud) Fitzmaurice; sister, Patricia Lois Fitzmaurice and special friend, Bill "Wally" Wallace.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in FRESHWATER, McDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, North Lewisburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Immaculate Conception Church, North Lewisburg with Father Ignatius Madanu celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
