Harry R. Brooks 73 of Russell’s Point, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born February 25, 1936 in Milford Center the son of the late Claude & Mabel (Metz) Brooks.
Harry spent his working career in the grocery business. He started at the ground level, working for different local stores. He worked just about every department in a grocery store; finally becoming the president of Food World, based out of Columbus. Harry also was the co-owner and co-operator of the Green Elf Lawn Service.
Harry was a musician; he enjoyed singing & playing his guitar in his own band, “The Right Combination”. He enjoyed the water, boating, fishing and waterskiing.
Harry loved to spend time with his family and they will greatly miss him.
Harry is survived by his wife of 54 years Barbara (Bowshier) his son, Jeff Brooks of Russell’s Point, his daughter, Melinda Brooks-Ward of Chicago, IL, his grandchildren, Christopher Brooks, Brian Ward & Andrew Ward, his brother, Jack Brooks of Nashville, his sister, Lurliene (Frank) Smith of Marysville, as well as several nieces & nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2009 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME 235 Miami St., Urbana, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery Urbana.
