Harvey A. Applegate, 79, of Urbana, passed away Saturday, November
07, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 24, 1936 in Urbana, OH. Harvey was a 1955
graduate of Salem High School. After graduation, he served his country
in the United State Army. Harvey was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church in Urbana, where he served as an Elder and sang in
the choir. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and liked watching the St.
Louis Cardinals play baseball and The Ohio State University Buckeyes
play football and basketball. What meant most to Harvey was spending
time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rose (Smith) Applegate;
children, Charles (April) Whitman of Urbana, Jamie (Lisa) Whitman of
Urbana, and Debra (Spencer) Algren of Springfield; grandchildren,
Brandi (Russell) Murphy, Payton Whitman, Brooke Sizemore, Alicia
Taylor, and Tabitha Algren; great grandchildren, Morgan Hard, Hailee
Hard, Graci Murphy, Alec Hard, Zayne Whitman, and Jennsen Casey-
Wood, Mason Taylor, and Lybertie Crawford; brother, Dewey
Applegate of Dayton; sister, Frances Cooley of Dayton.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, George and Glenna
(Harvey) Applegate; several brothers and sisters, and special friend,
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. on
Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME,
Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the First
Presbyterian Church in Urbana with Rev. Steve Schumm officiating.
Entombment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer
Association of Champaign County, PO Box 38125, Urbana, OH 43078.

It is with great sadness we have learned of Harvey’s passing. Although the years have passed by so quickly, we remain with many memories of our interaction with Harvey. He was a kind and generous man. Our heartfelt condolences to his wife and family.
