Helen C. Chamberlin 81, of Urbana, passed away, Thursday, October 24, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born April 16, 1932 in Urbana, Ohio.
She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness/ 1st Wesleyan Church and she attended the Northridge United Methodist Church. Helen was a gospel singer, with her sister-in-law, Dorothy Chamberlin at WIZE for the Rev. William R. Hannan. She worked for 18 years at the Marysville Women’s Reformatory where she was a correction sergeant and she was a greeter at Wal-Mart in Urbana. Helen loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Gregory) King of Urbana, son, John (Susan) Chamberlin Jr. of Urbana; granddaughters, Amber King, Ashley (Kyle) Doggett, Abby (Justin) Deere, Sarah Chamberlin, Rachael Chamberlin, Hannah Chamberlin, her great grandson, K. Holden Evans; as well as numerous nieces and nephews of several generations.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm & Bessie (Bolin) Gorton, husband of 49 years, John Chamberlin, and her brothers, Richard, Herman, & Floyd Gorton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Northridge United Methodist Church, 4610 Derr Rd. Springfield OH with Rev. Ken Woode officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in the mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

I’m so sorry for the loss of my Aunt Helen she was a wonderful lady and the great aunt to me who I loved with all my heart. She will be deeply missed. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. God Bless each and everyone of you. She is with god now.
