Herman M. Slaughter, 85, of North Lewisburg passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Memorial Hospital of Union County.
He was born June 8, 1926 in Woodstock, Ohio, the son of Roscoe and Stella (Turner) Slaughter.
Herman served his country in the United States Army. He retired in 1980 from DCSC in Columbus after over 25 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters, Kristina (Robert) Dingus Sr. of North Lewisburg, Sandra (Tom) Kilkenny of Silver Springs, Florida and Kimberly Langhans of Columbus; sons, Steven M. Slaughter of Columbus, Rex (Patti) Slaughter of Brookville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Sonya, Shawn, Daniel, Barbara J., Dana A., Robert Jr., Mari Ann, Thomas; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Ina Chapman of Woodstock; as well as numerous nieces & nephews of several generations.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara V. Slaughter; grandsons, Max William, Steven Max Jr.
Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 in the FRESHWATER, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, North Lewisburg with Rev. Richard Mabie officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
