Homer Thurle “Bud” Perry, 92 of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 in
Van Crest of Urbana.
He was born November 19, 1917 in Union Township, Champaign County, the son of Harry Thurle and Eva Elizabeth (Albright) Perry.
Bud was a 1935 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. He began Bud Perry Trucking Services, enjoyed farming and retired from County Engineer Department. He served on the Mechanicsburg Village Council, as a Champaign County Commissioner and as a director of Perpetual Federal Savings and Loan Association of Urbana. Bud was an active member of the Lions Club, the IOOF, Mechanicsburg Lodge 113, F. & A.M., Caroline Chapter # 39, order of Eastern Star, the Champaign County Shrine Club, York Rite of Urbana, Scottish Rite of Dayton, numerous car clubs and enjoyed traveling. Bud was an active member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his sisters, LuVaughn “Bonnie” Snyder of Mutual and Mildred “Midge” Harvey of Urbana and several nieces and nephews.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ferryl (Venrick) Perry, his sisters, Louise Charles and Lillian Frost, his brothers-in-law, Paul Charles, Grover Frost, Earl Burden, Charles Harvey and Ralph Snyder.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg; where Masonic Services will be held at 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Harley Roston officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual.
