Howard F. Kyte, 92 of Urbana, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Sterling House of Urbana.
He was born October 30, 1922 in Dandridge, TN. Howard served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Sergeant. He retired from D.P. &L. after 30 years. He met and married his loving wife Betty of 56 years on Aug. 23, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2004. Howard was a member of the First Baptist Church Urbana.
Howard is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sally Kyte of Urbana and Randy and Sue Kyte of Columbus, OH one granddaughter, Heather (Brett) Gilbert of Urbana; three grandsons, Jason (Jen) Kyte of Holmes County, OH, Joe (Julie) Kyte of LaRue, OH and Andrew (Christin) Kyte of Mooresville, NC. He is also survived by 2 great grandsons, Bailey and Trenor Kyte and 2 great granddaughters, Lainey and Kylin Kyte all of whom he was very proud; sister, Wilma Elmore of New Market, Tennessee and brother, Wayne “Speedy” (Eleanor) Kyte of Powell, Tennessee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Licie Kyte, his wife, one sister, Ruby Mullins and brothers, Alvin, Conrad, and Jay Kyte.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Wonn officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Randy, Larry, Jason, Joseph and Andrew Kyte and Heather (Kyte) Gilbert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard’s memory to the First Baptist Church, 401 N. Main Street, Urbana, OH 43078 or Hospice of Miami Valley, 1948 N. Limestone St., Springfield, Ohio 45503. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.vernonfh.com

I am so sorry for your loss. I felt very lucky to have known your father and always looked forward to seeing him when I was up at Sally’s Court.
Sorry I couldn’t make it this afternoon, but have photo appointment at 5:00 and a wedding planning wedding at 6:30.

I am saddened to see that your predictions were so accurate. I am glad we had time to chat Saturday. Praying that his wonderful legacy will comfort all of you.
