Ivan Earl "Ike" Sabins, 91, of Urbana, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born December 12, 1926 in Delaware, Ohio, the son of the late Fred Alford and Lottie Ruth (Edwards) Sabins.

Ike proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Dayton Power and Light after 27 years of service. In the summer, Ike loved to spend time golfing and in the winter, he could be found cracking walnuts and hickory nuts.

He is survived by wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Sabins; his daughters, Cindy VanHoose and Jany Lou Sabins; his grandchildren, Leah (Andy) Edwards and Jessamyn (Jake) Bradley; his great grandchildren, Quentin Lookabaugh, Josie Lookabaugh and Kimber Bradley; his sister, Lois Holton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ike was preceded in death by brothers, Ray, Carl, Jeff and Fred Sabins; and his sisters, Ruth Thompson and Jean Griffin.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will follow in Kingscreek Cemetery. Services are entrusted to VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery Avenue Church of Christ, 811 Montgomery Ave., Springfield, Ohio 45506.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear of Ike’s passing. He was such a good person. I remember his visits to Bill during his illness. I have special memories of both of you doing such nice things for others.
