Jack P. Watts, 92, of Urbana, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016 in Eaglewood Care Center, Springfield, Ohio.
Jack was born March 9, 1924 in Union County, Ohio and was a graduate of North Lewisburg High School which later became Triad High School. He was an excellent athlete and was a member of the 1941 Champaign County #1 Track Team. On his high-school basketball team he was known for his wicked hook shot! Jack was also an outstanding academic, played base violin in the school band, all this while working full time on his father’s farm. After graduation he went on to work at The Champion Company (Springfield, Ohio location) for over twenty years before being employed by and retiring from International Harvester Company, Rt. #68 Plant, Springfield. Jack enabled a lawnmower business in Texas and helped his grandson Jason “reconstruct” a Dixon riding mower and with that Jason was able to put aside money to attend Texas A &M. Jason went on to become a successful oil-field engineer. In addition to Jack’s enthusiasm for lawnmower mechanics, Jack enjoyed bowling, playing pool and camping. He and his wife Mary were also members of St Mary’s Catholic Church. Jack was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband and friend. He showed great love for those he cared for and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him plus those who treasured his friendship. Jack always had kind words and had become a real hero to all who had the good fortune to know him. God Bless Jack P. Watts!

Sorry to see Jack has died. He and Fanny were good friend’s of my first in-laws Carl and Lelah Stringfellow. I thought a lot of them and their boys, particularly John, he was a good friend to my second husband and my son. RIP Jack, no more dances for us, cut a rug in HEAVEN!
