James F. ”Jim” Ballard, 64, of Catawba passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 in his residence.
He was born April 30, 1948 in Springfield, OH the son of Foster and Freda (Linthicum) Ballard.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of Northeastern High School. He served his country in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Fort Gordon, Georgia, Fort Lewis, Washington and Korea. Jim was a member of the Union Club, Machinist Club and the Moose Club. He loved his Harley and coaching. Jim helped coach football for South Vienna Middle School for 13 years and also coached baseball.
He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Peggy (Hayes) Ballard; his sons, Michael (Erin) Ballard of Springfield, Todd (LeeAnn) Ballard of Springfield and Greg (Megahn) Ballard of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Haley, Logan, Suzie, Jack, Zoe, Henry, Evan and Izzie; brothers, Donald (Jodi) Ballard and Howard (Vickie) Ballard both of Springfield; sister, Jeanette (Ray) Roberts of Catawba; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and father and mother-in-law, Roger and Norma Hayes.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME Mechanicsburg. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with the Pastor Steve Evans officiating.
Burial will follow in McConkey Cemetery, Catawba.
