James "Jimmy" Denver Callahan, 65 of Mutual, Ohio passed away, Saturday, December 29, 2018 in his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born August 11, 1953 in Hazard, Kentucky the son of Denver and Mae (Coots) Callahan. Jimmy was an active retiree of Labores International Union Local 216 and 1410 of North America. He enjoyed tinkering in his huge garage, laughing, pranking everyone and collecting items that reminded him of times passed in his garage. Jimmy liked any and everything construction related and enjoyed doing home improvement side jobs for friends with his best friend, Doug Maddy. He made many good friendships working in the construction field and didn't know a stranger. Once you were his friend, he loved you forever and continued every relationship by surprise Sunday visits. He provided a great life for his wife, daughter, granddaughters, parents and his brothers. Just one man but a super hero too many. With his countless hours of hard highway work he still took the time to check on everyone (blood or not) to see if they need anything. This man leaves us with very large boots to fill. But Heaven gains an amazing guardian angel to look after us.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Diane L. Callahan, his daughter, Melinda Gail Ussher (Brian Kondracki); grandchildren, Taylor Marie and Kati-Mae Ussher; father-in-law, Carl (Jerri) Ervin; aunts, Geraldeon and Ruthann Coots, Emily Craig and many relatives around Viper and Hazard Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pearl D. Callahan; aunts, Nola Faye Finley and Lucy Coots; uncles Lester Coots and Ern Coots, mother-in-law, Gertie Ervin and his beloved dog, George.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
