James “Jim” E. Dunlavy, 72, of Urbana passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Heartland of Urbana.
He was born October 1, 1936 in Urbana, the son of A. O. and Anna (Barr) Dunlavy.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Urbana High School. He retired after 30 years of service from International Harvester as an Inventory Auditor. During his retirement he worked for the Urbana Daily Citizen. He was a member of the Urbana Historical Society. Jim served his country as a member of the United States Air Force Reserves. He loved bowling and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Jane (Reibold), whom he married February 23, 1957; daughters, Deborah (Mark) Gibbs of Sidney and Sharon (Charlie) Mattox of Urbana; son, Michael Dunlavy of Urbana; grandchildren, Michael S. Dunlavy, Ryan (Lacy) Dunlavy, Chase Williams, Angelia Dunlavy, Laura Dunlavy, Robbie Casto II, Amanda and Brittany Bos; sister, Patty (John) Garvey of Urbana.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Dunlavy; sister, Betty Lovedahl.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in the funeral home with Pastors Ray Harper and Dewey Casto officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
