James Willard “Jim” Ervin, 78, of Huber Heights, died July 3, 2017 in Life Care Hospital of Dayton.
He was born February 15, 1939 in Urbana, Ohio, the son of Willard and Dorothy (Chess) Ervin.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a former policeman for Urbana Police Department and retired as a foundry manager from Ingersoll-Rand-Dresser Foundry. Jim was a collector of Fenton Glass and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. Most of all, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon K. (Knight) Ervin; his daughters, Chris (John) Druckenbroad, Sara (Don) Higdon, and Kim (Jen) Ervin-Bell; his 6 grandchildren, Ben, Levi, D.J., Cassie, J.R., and Staci; his 9 great grandchildren; his sister, Sharon (Ron) LeMaster; his brother, Larry (Jan) Ervin; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Shirley and Caroline.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 PM on Friday, July 7, 2017 in the SKILLMAN, McDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Fairview Cemetery, Mutual with Rev. Mimi Ault officiating.
