James T. Howard, 87 of Mechanicsburg, passed away, Friday, February 20, 2015 in Heartland of Urbana.
He was born May 7, 1927 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. James served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 238, Mechanicsburg.
He enjoyed fishing, dogs & coon hunting. He worked at Frost Motors and later years he bought and sold timber.
He also in his later years found him a 10 year old buddy that he laughed and joked with and was able to tell story to him about his life. His buddy was Dakota Purk.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Lou (Paul) Smith of Cincinnati, formerly of Mechanicsburg and Dorothy Davis of Springfield; his sister-in-law, Mary Howard of Urbana, nephew and nieces, Rick and Brenda Smith, Joetta and John Burden, and Doris Beal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur J. and Patricia O. (Robinson) Howard, 2 wives, Hazel and Mary Howard, 2 sisters, Charlotte McHenry and Margaret Howard and his brother, Arthur Howard Jr.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his home health care aid, Tammy Hannah.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2014 in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #238, Mechanicsburg.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.

Sorry for the loss of your brother. Saw your name mentioned and I’ve thought of you for years. You babysat my little boy at nights when I worked. You lived on E. Race St. up steep steps. You were always so kind and sweet and Paul would have the snow cleared for me so I wouldn’t slip and fall. That was about 45 yrs. ago and my little boy was Brian, now 47.
